1.
Verse 1: lay your deadly doing down down at Jesus’ feet stand in Him and Him alone gloriously complete Chorus: Jesus paid it all took the Father’s cup of wrath and as he drank it through the dregs He gave His life instead of mine. Verse 2: weary, working, burdened one why do you labor so cease your doing, all was done on a cross, long ago Bridge: oh to Jesus’ work we cling for our doing ends in death all our trust in Him alone and our souls will find their rest
2.
Verse 1: You walked upon the water you calmed the raging sea You healed those who were hurting you made the blind man see There is power in your clothing there is power in your words No one you met was left unchanged you overcame the world Chorus: You are worthy of our praise Son of God, the lamb once slain Who’s blood has covered all our guilt and shame Verse 2: You loved the broken hearted you loved the little ones You loved us as your brothers you loved us as your sons You remember the forgotten you forget our sin in grace You lived your life to love us in your death you took our place Verse 3: Betrayed by your beloved and killed by those you healed Denied by those you’d died for forsaken for a field You knew it had to happen and you prayed that it would not and as they nailed you to the cross, you said, forgive them father, they don’t know they’re lost
3.
Verse: we were dead in the trespasses and the sins in which we once walked we followed the course of this world and the prince that’s now at work PreChorus: in the passions of our flesh we were slaves to our death Chorus: but God, being great in mercy even when we were dead in our sins He’s raised us and seated us in the heavenly places with Him Bridge: because of His love we’re made alive, (made alive) There’s grace in the blood of Jesus (Christ, Jesus Christ)
4.
Verse: i've been chasing after the wind as if i could hold on to it but i've found there's only one thing that never let's you down so i'll seek you Lord with my face on the ground Chorus: You're my hiding place a shelter from the storm You're my hiding place forevermore You surround me in songs of deliverance i find hope in your promises Bridge: that you'll never leave me alone you are the faithful one so in all my ways I'll seek your face you are the faithful one

about

“Cast your deadly doing down; down at Jesus’ feet. Stand in Him, in Him alone; gloriously complete.” – James Proctor

These words, written in the 1864 hymn, “It is Finished,” perfectly sum up the message that has been moving through the family at Eternal for the past few years. Note that we do not cast our doings down. We cast our deadly doings down, which are the works motivated from any other passion than what has already happened to and within us. Efforts toward earning our way, or “paying off” His finished work, communicate that Jesus’ sacrifice was insufficient and that we can somehow take back control of our lives. His completed work of rescue and restoration should both melt and claim our hearts forever. It is only then that our “works” will be beautiful to the Father as they come from an overflow of Christ in us.

These four songs are a reflection and response to the Scriptures and to what the Lord has been been doing in our midst at Eternal. Our prayer is that these songs would give you a voice to sing and express great truths about who He is and all that he has done for His Church.
